In 2004, the founders of the László Kovács-Vilmos Zsigmond Cinematographer Competition set out on a mission to turn the spotlight to those who are behind the cameras.
Since then, the organization has awarded the most outstanding members of the Hungarian cinematographer community who bring the world of cinema closer to us with their beautiful images.

Our Awards
Besides the traditional award categories we recognize those Hungarian cinematographers who have worked in the industry for a lifetime, and during this time they have written their names in the history of the Hungarian cultural community.
Since 2004 the László Kovács-Vilmos Zsigmond Cinematographer Awards honor those cinematographers who have inspired generations and will inspire the ones to come.
Every year since 2019 an outstanding lighting technician receives this award, which was named after the legendary Hungarian chief lighting technician.
For more than a decade, winners of the Student category receive Sparks Camera & Lighting Ltd’s award which consists of a Panavision camera package. Since the middle of the 2000s, Vilmos Zsigmond supported the winners of the student category with this special award.
During the László Kovács-Vilmos Zsigmond Cinematographer Competition, the participants can compete in the following traditional categories: Student, Short Film, Documentary, Nature Film, TV Drama and Feature Film.
